Why can’t we use GOOGLE BARD in the EU?

hi guys welcome to the voice of AI my
name's Chris plant so why the heck am I
talking about penguins well I love Matt
burgess's article from wired this week
and I really do have to quote him he
said more penguins than Europeans can
use Google bard nobody in the EU can
access googlebard's chatbot but the 50
000 Penguins who live on a dormant
volcano in the South Atlantic can sign
up right now
this is because Google's AI language
model Bard is available in every country
except the EU and the European economic
area which compromises of some 450
million people
the absence of Bard following similar
non-launches of generative AI chatbots
by Facebook's meta has led official
intelligence government experts to
suggest the move is Google's way of
voicing its opposition to the eu's
current privacy and safety legislation
the Draft rules for AI regulatory
framework known as the AI act are yet to
be ratified June is the date but gdpr's
existing laws and Digital Services acts
are causing concerns you can actually

potential consequences of the upcoming
regulations that you wish to implement
on artificial intelligence models from
June while I understand the importance
of regulating this rapidly advancing
technology to ensure ethical and safe
practices we must also keep in mind the
potential impact on business and
Innovation the EU is home to some of the
world's most Innovative and
entrepreneurial companies and these
regulations have the potential to hinder
their growth and competitiveness
compared to other nations such as
America and China if the regulations are
too strict businesses may be forced to
move to other regions where regulatory
environments are more conducive to
Innovation ultimately harming Europe's
economy and standing in the global
market therefore I urge the EU leaders
to approach the regulations with an open
mind recognizing the potential benefits
of AI Innovation while also putting in
place appropriate safeguard to minimize
risks we need to create a balanced
regulatory framework that protects
consumers and businesses while also
promoting continued Innovation and
growth let's work together to find the
right approach that ensures Europe
remains competitive and at the Forefront
of global innovation
